Birthday View Toward the Hintereisferner and Weißkugel on the Way to Hochjoch-Hospiz | On my 40th birthday, while hiking from the Breslauer Hut toward the Hochjoch-Hospiz, I reached a point at around 2,650 meters where the view opened toward the remaining ice of the Hintereisferner and the mighty Weißkugel above it. Even at this altitude, the heatwave was clearly noticeable, with 18°C feeling unusually warm for such a high alpine place — while the lowlands far below were another 20°C hotter. Behind the high mountain ridge in the distance lay the border to Italy, where thunderstorms were already beginning to build in the late afternoon. I made it to the Hochjoch-Hospiz in time, and later I could finally slow down, breathe in the cool evening air, and enjoy an elderflower spritzer on the hut terrace after a deeply memorable birthday stage. - Realized with Pictrs.com
